The short version: Jot the Spot stores the memories you ask it to remember. It does not keep your audio, sell your information, or put ads in the app.

Who we are

Jot the Spot is the controller of personal data processed through the Jot the Spot app, website, and API. Contact us at privacy@jotthespot.co.

Information we process

Your account identifier and, if you choose, your email address or Google identity.
The item names, places, rooms, optional photos, and household information you save.
Purchase entitlement data supplied by Google Play or the Apple App Store.
Content-free diagnostics such as feature events, app version, and error details.

Voice and AI processing

Jot the Spot records only after you start capture. Speech is converted into text for the feature you requested. Audio is not retained by Jot the Spot. When a server-assisted transcription or parsing service is needed, the minimum necessary content is sent securely to that processor and is not placed in analytics.

Why we use this information

We process your data to provide the app and sync service, restore your account, verify purchases, prevent abuse, support household sharing, respond to support requests, and keep the service reliable. Depending on the activity, our legal basis is performance of our contract, your consent, or our legitimate interest in operating a secure service.

Storage and sharing

Server data is hosted in the European region selected for Jot the Spot’s infrastructure. We share data only with service providers needed for hosting, transactional email, AI processing, diagnostics, and app-store billing, under appropriate agreements. We do not sell or rent personal data.

Retention and deletion

Active memories remain until you delete them or your account. Starting account deletion immediately revokes active sessions; server rows and stored photos are purged within 24 hours. Short-lived login codes and operational logs expire on a limited schedule. Backup retention may continue briefly where required for disaster recovery, isolated from normal use and deleted on rotation.

Your choices and rights

You can export your jots, correct profile details, leave a household, or delete your account in the app. You can also use our web deletion page. Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing.

Children

Jot the Spot is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly create their accounts.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date and provide an in-app notice where appropriate.
